Not a big fan of Apple?s built-in iOS iPod app and wishing you could simply replace it with another one of your choosing? Apparently so was developer Clever & Son, who are planning to bring just such an offering to the App Store soon.
Zrich, Switzerland-based Clever & Son has announced the forthcoming release of Panamp, a new iOS app they?re billing as ?The Music Player.? Boasting a host of powerful and unique features, the company aims to position the new app as a replacement for Apple?s own built-in iPod app (which will soon become simply the Music app with iOS 5).
?Panamp is an evolution of the native iOS music playback application,? the company?s website reads. ?It?s simple, yet powerful interface allows you to control, browse, organize and listen to your music intuitively. Panamp?s operation has a natural and ergonomic feel, which you can pick up instinctively.?
Among the features that make Panamp different are a Power Search mode to quickly and efficiently find your artists, tracks or albums. Just swipe a finger over a song and you?ll see all the albums related to that artist. Users will also be able to arrange music by artist, track or iTunes playlist, expanding and collapsing sections with a single tap into a Cascade View.
Perhaps the coolest Panamp feature touted on the company?s website is Dynamic Queues. If you prefer to make a quick mix of select tracks, you can simply swipe across the tracks you want to include and they?ll be gathered into a Dynamic Queue in the background.
Best of all, Panamp syncs with your iTunes collection and is fully compatible with the playlists you?ve created there. The app will also be AirPlay enabled and feature both a multitasking dock as well as lock screen access. The developers are also planning to include iCloud integration when it launches this fall in order to seamlessly import your music from the cloud over both Wi-Fi and 3G.
Panamp is expected in the App Store next week, but in the meantime you can visit the company?s website to read more about its unique feature set and even view a video of the features in action on an iPhone.
